Liatris novae-angliae, (New England Blazing Star), is the only species of blazing star endemic to Massachusetts. When mature it reaches a height of about 2.5' with up to 30 flower heads per stem. This species prefers dry, nutrient poor open grassland, if you plant this species in a location that lacks well draining soil it is likely to die in winter.
