Campsis radicans, the trumpet vine, orange trumpet vine, or trumpet creeper, is a species of flowering plant in the family Bignoniaceae, native to eastern North America, and naturalized elsewhere. Growing to 10 meters, it is a vigorous, deciduous woody vine, notable for its showy trumpet-shaped flowers. This plant has low severity poison characteristics. Trumpet vine is a dense, vigorous, multi-stemmed, deciduous, woody vine in the Bignoniaceae (begonia) family that attaches itself to structures and climbs by aerial rootlets. Trumpet vines bloom on new growth, so deadheading after the flowers will encourage a second showing. Trumpet-shaped yellow, orange, and red flowers bloom from June to September in the summer. A trumpet vine is an excellent pick for a pollinator or hummingbird garden, attracting swarms of winged creatures all summer. A decoction of the flowers is used to correct menstrual disorders, rheumatoid pains, traumatic injuries, difficult urination, pruritis and oozing dermaphytoses.
