Mosquitoes have been shown to avoid lemongrass because of the strong citrus like smell it possesses.* Lemongrass is grown as an annual in cool regions, and as a perennial in warmer areas. It’s season can also be extended if brought indoors during winter to grow in a container or pot.* To use lemongrass as a mosquito repellent, just place the plants around the perimeter of the space you want to exclude mosquitoes. For example, you’d want to place the lemongrass around a patio, deck or any other outdoor space.* This highly ornamental, medicinal perennial grass is native to Thailand, India, Burma and Sri Lanka. It is also called Cochin grass or Malabar Grass.* The essential oil that is extracted is being studied for its anti-cancer inhibiting abilities.
