The dense blazing star (Liatris spicata) seeds available from Chestnut Hill Nursery are suitable for outdoor planting in medium to moist conditions. This purple-flowered leafy perennial, which is part of the sunflower family, Asteraceae, thrives in full sun. The seeds will need at least a month of cold stratification (a cold, moist period) before they will germinate. Seeds are harvested from both cultivated beds on our farm and local populations in and around Lancaster County, PA.
