Tephrocactus articulatus v. strobiliformis is an attractive brown color cactus has globular shaped sections with minimal spines. The sections look like small green pine cones. You are bidding on 4 pieces. It will be shipped bare root. Beware of the barbed spines. Use paper not gloves when handling. Sections fall off almost to the touch. Expect some sections to be separated upon arrival. These sections can be planted and rooted. Let it root before watering. Roots can be determined by slightly tugging on the plant and detecting resistance. Please read our FAQ in our cactusbylin ebay store. Each nugget is 1-2 inches long. You are bidding on 4 nuggets. We don’t want to ship a whole plant because it breaks apart very easy. When you open the box it would just be a pile of nuggets. These are cuttings. To get them rooted just lay them flat on the surface of the soil. They may start to curl like a potato chip, but whatever part of the pad touches the soil will take root. If you shove them into the soil standing them up they may rot before getting roots and new growth. Also, the pad may dry out and look like it’s not going to make, but will miraculously send out new growth in the spring. Before roots and the new growth appears it is recommended to keep water to a minimum, especially in cold weather.

You will receive ONE unrooted segment in this listing. It will be 2″ to 3″ in size. The bottom end will be marked with a white mark, so you know which way to plant it. The first picture shows a mature plant. The rest of the pictures show an example of what you will receive. They root VERY easily. Just plant them, and don’t water for 6 to 8 weeks. This is a VERY hardy plant, and takes the cold down to at least 15F. It will also take full sun, even here in the southwest! All plants are sent bare root, unless noted. If you need heat packs, please let us know and we’ll send a revised invoice. The heat packs are $4 each. It is the buyer’s responsibility to let us know they need a heat pack.
