OSMT Meeting – Location: Cheekwood

Vandas6 pm Special for New Members – Orchids 101: Clay Pots for Growing Orchids
7 pm Presentation:
“Vanda Orchid Alliance Part 2″ (plant sales & refreshments at 6:30 pm)

Location: Cheekwood Botanical Gardens – directions, 1200 Forrest Park Drive Nashville Tennessee 37205

Our guest speaker will be OSMT President, John Cranshaw with an in depth presentation on Vanda’s from Asia.

He will focus on his extension of the 101 class from last month and review the basic species and hybrids. John has been growing Vanda’s since his childhood growing up in South Florida. He now has a collection of 50 plus Vanda’s and hybrids which he grows in Middle Tennessee. Please bring your blooming Vanda hybrids or species for discussion.

We will have a question and answer session. Please bring your orchid plants to sell as we will have an open sales table. All are welcome! Bring a friend who is interested in orchids.

Special for New Members – Orchids 101: When and How to use Clay Pots for Growing Orchids

Join us as March continues with Orchids 101 for those just starting out caring for their orchids. OSMT Trustee, Alice Jensen (Horse Mountain Orchids) will present a short class on when and how clay pots are good to use for growing orchids. She will describe some potting techniques and give a brief presentation.
