During this months meeting, OSMT Members Mike Rollinger & Jon Cranshaw will be speaking about growing orchids utilizing artificial lighting. They will be focusing on basic orchid lighting requirements and the different lighting options currently on the market to help provide your plants with the right light to help them with photosynthesis – the process plants use light to make food from carbon dioxide. There are a variety of artificial light bulbs available on the market. Placing your orchid plants under a fluorescent, LED, or high-intensity discharge lights to provide more light is always a possibility if you do not have good natural lighting in your home or growing area.
Growing orchids indoors with artificial grow lights isn’t complicated, once you know what you’re doing. In fact, it’s quite easy. Artificial lighting is growing in popularity among orchid growers. The most vital question now is how much light is right for your specific orchid?
