7PM CST: “Cozy Home for the Little Guys” – Cheryl Erins
Cheryl Erins, our current AOS President, will be the guest speaker this month and will be talking to us about Terrarium’s in her presentation titled “A Cozy Home for the Little Guys”. While she is with us she will also plan to touch on the latest things going on with the American Orchid Society as well.
About Our Speaker
Cheryl Erins, has been growing orchids for almost 45 years. She has had a greenhouse and is now growing her collection under lights. Cheryl has been the Past President twice for the Batavia Orchid Society as well as on a zillion committees for the Mid America Orchid Congress, of which she is now Education and Web Master chair, as well as being immediate past President. She has served as the committee chairs for the AOS, Governance Committee, and Library Committee. She was also the AOS Secretary from 2018-2022, Vice President, 2022-2024, and now its President, 2024-2026. Cheryl has traveled to many countries, such as Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Thailand and others, to see orchids in situ and attend several World Orchid Conferences, Miami, Singapore, Taiwan this past year and, God willing, Dresden, 2026. I am an Accredited Judge with the Chicago Center, and serve as its treasurer. For fun…. Cheryl loves to travel, and sing being a soloist in the Michigan Latvian Chorus out of Kalamazoo Michigan, of which she as sung in Riga, Latvia in 2023 as well as Toronto in 2024.
