Desert grown seed is tested for freedom from Bacterial leaf Blight. The coriander plant, whose leaves are known as cilantro, is native to the Mediterranean and Middle Easter countries; it is believed to be one of the earliest spices used by man. Early physicians such as Hippocrates used coriander primarily as an aromatic stimulant or to disguise the taste of unsavory medicines. Nearly every part of this herb has a culinary use; in Thai cuisine, the roots flavor spicy sauces, while the cilantro leaves season and garnish Chinese, Vietnamese, and Mexican dishes. The coriander seed is used in candy, specialty breads, sauces, desserts, and even perfumes. In Tudor England, coriander seeds coated with sugar were known as “comfits” and became a popular treat. These seeds are non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms), and are also free from all Neonicotinoids. They are packaged in our superb Gold Mylar Mylar Zip Packaging, which gives the seeds the best storage possible, and allows you to reseal the bag for later use. The artwork and labels on the packet are loaded with information – many people comment that it is the most beautiful packet that they have ever seen. In warmer climates, Cilantro can also be sown in the Fall through Spring. Seeds can be sown at intervals of 2-3 weeks, so you can have a continual harvest of fresh leaves.WHERE TO PLANT CILANTRO SEEDSIdeal growing conditions are cool, but sunny, as soil temperatures that reach 75°F will cause Cilantro to bolt. Cilantro does best when it gets morning or afternoon sun exposure, but receives shade during the hottest parts of the day. Choose soil that is light, and well-draining.HOW TO PLANT CILANTRO SEEDSCilantro seeds are actually a hard husk that contains two seeds inside. You’ll need to crush the husks containing the seeds, and then soak your seeds for 24-48 hours, then remove from the water and allow to dry in order to increase their chances at germination. Direct sow your seeds in rows, and cover with 1/4 inch of soil. Rows should have a spacing of about 12 inches. Once seedlings grow to 2 inches tall, thin out plants to a spacing of 3-4 inches apart. Seeds will germinate in approximately 7-10 days.HOW TO HARVEST CILANTROLeaves can be cut at any time, but it’s recommended to cut the newer, fresher leaves toward the top than to harvest the older, more mature leaves closer to the bottom for the freshest taste. Unlike most herbs, Cilantro is meant to be consumed fresh, and not to be dried for storage or later use.WE SHIP FAST & FREE!Your orders ship the next business date after payment via US mail.
