20 Seeds Japanese Red Maple Tree Bonsai Rare plant for home garden

July 8, 2026

How to Germinate Japanese Maple Seed When planting Japanese maple seeds, it’s important to pretreat them before sowing them in the ground. If you plan on planting your seeds outdoors in the spring, place them in a paper bag and store them in a cool, dark place through the winter. If you plan on starting them indoors in a pot, you can skip the winter storage and begin treating the seeds right away. First, break off the wings of the seeds. Next, fill a container with water that’s very warm but not too hot to put your hand in it, and soak your seeds for 24 hours. Then mix the seeds in a small amount of potting soil and put it all in a sealable plastic bag. Poke a couple holes in the bag for ventilation and put it in your refrigerator for 90 days to stratify. Once the 90 days are up, you can plant the seeds in a container or directly in the ground. If you live somewhere with cold winters, you can skip the fridge and simply sow your seeds outdoors after they soak. The cold of winter will stratify the seeds just as well.

10 CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM Tree Seeds (Phoenix Canariensis) Hardy Fruit Plant

July 8, 2026

CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM SEEDS (Phoenix canariensis) The Canary Island date palm (Phoenix canariensis) is a beautiful tree, native to the warm Canary Islands. You can consider planting a Canary Island date palm outdoors in zones 9-11. In cooler climates they make Great Indoor Plants as they can get huge in small containers like the one in picture #5 making them able to grow great anywhere. If you are dreaming of Canary palm trees growing in your backyard, you’ll need lots of room. Information on Canary date palms lists these trees as growing up to 65 feet tall with a potential spread of 40 feet. However, planting a Canary Island date palm is not entirely out of the question indoors, or if you have a small backyard. Canary palm trees growing speed is slow, and your specimen will only get to 10 feet tall during its first 15 years in the backyard. Canary date palms notes the long leaves of the species from 8 to 20 feet long and the extremely sharp spines at the frond base. The trunk can grow to 4 feet in diameter. Small white or gray blossoms produce showy ornamental date-like fruits in the summer. Zones 9-11Canary Palm Germination: 1) Fill a large pot with potting soil. Water this soil so that it is damp, but not wet.2) Use a heated propagator to keep the soil around 92 degrees F.3) Insert the seed into the soil so that it is just “lightly covering the seed” as the “need light to germinate”. If the pot is large enough, you can plant several seeds.4) Place the pot in the large plastic bag and seal it. Air out daily for 30 mins. & periodically inspect the seeds for any signs of mold or fungus. If found, simply wash the seed in a copper based fungicide, and rinse it off well before placing it back into “new & sterile” soil.5) Patience is needed as with any Palm or Tropical seeds. Expect germination to happen anywhere from 2-5 months. If a few sprout earlier than others, don’t throw the rest out as they are still good. They just need a bit more time and are Definitely Worth the Wait!

Hollyhocks can also be sown indoors approximately 9 weeks before your final frost and transferred outdoors about 2-3 weeks after the final frost has passed.WHERE TO PLANT HOLLYHOCK SEEDSPlant hollyhocks, in moist, rich, and well-draining soil that gets full sun exposure – though they can tolerate Partial Shade. One of the significant causes of hollyhock failure is planting in soil that is too dry.HOW TO PLANT HOLLYHOCK SEEDSSoak your seeds beforehand in warm water for approximately 12 hours. Direct sow outdoors onto the surface of the soil and compress firmly, but do not cover. Hollyhocks require sunlight to germinate. If starting indoors, use tall, individual pots to transplant, as Hollyhocks have long taproots.HOW TO CARE FOR HOLLYHOCKHollyhocks are a short-lived perennial, tending to last about 2-3 years. This lifespan can be extended by removing flowers as soon as they fade. In non-tropical climates, you can cut your hollyhocks down and mulch in order to give them longer life as well. Hollyhocks can also be susceptible to rust, which will usually infect lower-growing leaves, but can spread upwards. Prevent rust by watering from below, and promoting good air circulation between your hollyhocks.SEED STORINGStore your seeds in a cool, dry and dark location. Most seeds have a long shelf life at least two years, but heat and moisture will cut that life short.Dedicate a drawer or cabinet to storing your seeds where you can also house your gardening journal close at hand for dreaming, planning and preparing. 1 pound BUFFALO GRASS Seed Native Prairie Sedge Low Maintenance Drought Heat

July 8, 2026

Buffalograss is a warm-season, perennial native grass that forms a sod and the mature height is generally 8 inches or less. Buffalograss is native to the Great Plains from Canada to Mexico. Buffalograss is a dioecious species having separate male and female plants. The male plant, when flowering, has an erect stem with a flag-like spike. The female plant forms a burr below the canopy which contains and the seed. Buffalograss has fine-textured leaves and spreads by runners or stolons. Buffalograss prefers well-drained clay loam and clay soils. Buffalograss is thought of as a “dual-purpose” grass since it has long been used for both ranges as well as turf applications. The low-maintenance aspect of buffalograss has created great interest in developing new turfgrass cultivars with increased leaf density, faster establishment and improved color.Buffalograss is a dominant grass in a shortgrass prairie. Grows slower than typical turf grass. Buffalo Grass can be mowed several times per year or left in place for a natural look. If mowing, a minimum height of 2”-3” will help the grass compete with weeds. Like warm-season turf grasses, it will turn dormant and brown mid-fall through spring.1 pound is about 50,000 seedsSpecies – Buchloe dactyloidesFree USPS 1st Class Package with Door Tracking.Planting instructions:SOW – Scatter and cover 1/4″ deep.
