July 8, 2026

THIS AUCTION IS UP TO ONE LOT OF 3 PIECES OF BORNEO ELEPHANT EAR TARO ALOCASIA MACRORRHIZA SMALL SPROUTED TARO. READY TO PLANT IT.How to Plant Elephant Ear Tubers:Plant elephant ear bulbs outside after all danger of frost has passed and daytime temperatures remain above 70 degrees. Elephant Ears are tropical plants and cannot tolerate any frost. They only emerge when the soil is warm.Select a location in full sun or part sun with a good, rich, moist, organic soil.Prepare the bed for elephant ears by turning the soil under to a depth of 8 inches. Then, level with a rake to remove clumps of grass and stones. Most elephant ear plants respond well to soils amended with organic matter. Compost is a wonderful form of organic matter with a good balance of nutrients and an ideal pH level, and it can be added to your planting area at any time. If compost is not available, top dress the soil after planting with 1-2 inches of organic mulch, which will begin to breakdown into compost. After the growing season, a soil test will indicate what soil amendments are needed for the following season.Plant elephant ear bulbs 2-4 feet apart. Plant so the growing tip is up.Dig a hole so that the top of the bulb is 4 inches deeper than the soil line. Cover with 4 inches of soil.Tubers may be started inside 6-8 weeks before all danger of frost has passed. Plant the tubers individually in 6 inch pots using a good quality potting soil or seed starting soil. They require a warm soil in order to emerge so consider using a heat mat.Planting Potted Elephant Ear Plants in the Garden:Select a location in full or part sun with quality soil that is moist, rich, and organic. To properly prepare the bed for growing elephant ears, start by turning the soil under to a depth of 8 inches. After, level the soil with a rake to remove clumps of grass and stones.

White Mammoth Sunchoke / Jerusalem Artichoke – Helianthus tuberosus,Edible

July 8, 2026

THIS AUCTION IS FOR White Mammoth Sunchoke / Jerusalem Artichoke – Helianthus tuberosus ,EDIBLE These delicious and nutritious tubers are the White Mammoth variety. This variety is mild tasting and cooks up quite tender. The tubers grow close to that stalk which is an advantage at harvest time.Planting: Unless your soil is 100% frozen solid, you can plant them upon arrival. Plant them 4-6 inches deep, ideally with a cover of mulch. Leave about a foot of space between nodes. If you cannot plant them outside upon arrival, you can put them as packaged in your refrigerator. Or you can take them out, wrap them in tin foil, then a loose plastic bag (like a produce bag from the supermarket) and put them in the vegetable compartment of your refrigerator until the ground warms up enough to dig into. They are slow to sprout in the spring – often not until mid to late May – but they will grow quickly once they get started. These are best planted as early in the season as possible. These grow into lovely plants about 8 to 10 feet tall with hundreds of pretty, sunflower like blooms at the tail end of the season. Butterfly and pollinator magnets! The above ground plants are not frost hardy, but they will come back year after year unless you dig up all the tubers. Be careful where and how you plant them as they can spread!Facts about Sunchokes Sunchokes are the bulbous tubers of the plant known botanically as Helianthus tuberosus, a variety of sunflower. Sunchokes are also commonly known as Jerusalem artichoke, sunroot, earth apple, and topinambour. The plant is propagated primarily for its root, which can be consumed both raw and cooked. Originally an American species, they were cultivated by Native Americans long before being introduced in Europe, and their high inulin content made them a traditional remedy for diabetes. Applications: Sunchokes can be used in place of potatoes in any recipe, though they have more moisture and no starch, so cooking times can differ. The knobby tuber is said to be best when roasted, though it can be served raw in salads, baked like fries, boiled and mashed, or pureed into a soup. Serve raw sliced Sunchokes in a crudité with creamy or oily dips. Sunchokes will keep in the refrigerator for up to a month if wrapped in plastic.

You’ll be shocked.Outdoors, Zones: 9-11Hummingbird Germination:These seeds have a really hard seed coat and need scarification before sowing to help & speed up germination. This can usually be done by sanding the hard shell of the seed with rough grit sandpaper, then pour a small amount of nearly boiling water on the seeds (being careful not to cook them!) and then soaking them for 24-38 hours in warm water. By this time they should have imbibed moisture and swollen – if they have not, then carefully make a small shallow nick in the seed’s coat (being careful not to damage the embryo) and soak for a further 12 hours. It is Very Important to use a heated propagated heat mat under your tray at least 78 Degrees F before sowing. Germination can take any where from 2 weeks to several months as with any Tropical or Exotic Seed. The propagator will help speed up some of them. But, Patience is needed for most of these seeds, but they’re more than Well Worth the Wait!”Please Contact us First if you need Anything”Please Check out our Other Items!Buy with Confidence as Customer Service is our #1 Priority and are available 7 days a week.
