Planting Instructions: Soil Preparation: Choose a clear, sunny location that is not in the shade of other trees. Trees establish roots better in sandy, well-drained soils rather than heavy, poorly drained soil. Remove weeds, large rocks, and litter from the planting area. Till the soil 8-10 inches deep and rake several times to break up large clods. It is best to do this when the soil is dry enough to not stick to garden tools. Loosening the soil will help the plant establish strong roots. Planting: Seeds have been cold-stratified. Soak seeds 24 hours in hot tap water prior to sowing. Start indoors 1 month before last frost in well-draining containers in >65F area, or directly sow outdoors when soil is >65F. Or, directly sow unsoaked seeds in late Fall. Sow seeds 1 inch deep in soil and keep soil moist until established. Seedbeds can be covered with plastic film to promote germination. When tree seedlings reach at least 6-inches in height, transplant seedlings to the desired location. Planting Depth: 1 inch Spacing: 18 inches, transplant. Care During the Season: Watering: Avoid dry soil, water about once a day and keep seedlings moist until established. Weeding: Keep plants as weed-free as possible. When plowing or hoeing do not dig deeper than 1 inch to prevent from cutting the feeder rooters which may slow the plant’s growth. Fertilizing: Seedlings may be fertilized when they are at least 4 inches tall:. Harvesting: Pick pear fruits before they fall at full maturity, when bright green and firm but with slight give when squeezed. Mature fruits should easily detach when twisted and pulled horizontally. 1 pound BUFFALO GRASS Seed Native Prairie Sedge Low Maintenance Drought Heat

July 8, 2026

Buffalograss is a warm-season, perennial native grass that forms a sod and the mature height is generally 8 inches or less. Buffalograss is native to the Great Plains from Canada to Mexico. Buffalograss is a dioecious species having separate male and female plants. The male plant, when flowering, has an erect stem with a flag-like spike. The female plant forms a burr below the canopy which contains and the seed. Buffalograss has fine-textured leaves and spreads by runners or stolons. Buffalograss prefers well-drained clay loam and clay soils. Buffalograss is thought of as a “dual-purpose” grass since it has long been used for both ranges as well as turf applications. The low-maintenance aspect of buffalograss has created great interest in developing new turfgrass cultivars with increased leaf density, faster establishment and improved color.Buffalograss is a dominant grass in a shortgrass prairie. Grows slower than typical turf grass. Buffalo Grass can be mowed several times per year or left in place for a natural look. If mowing, a minimum height of 2”-3” will help the grass compete with weeds. Like warm-season turf grasses, it will turn dormant and brown mid-fall through spring.1 pound is about 50,000 seedsSpecies – Buchloe dactyloidesFree USPS 1st Class Package with Door Tracking.Planting instructions:SOW – Scatter and cover 1/4″ deep.
