700+ CRIMSON GIANT RADISH SEEDS. FRESH FOR 2024 GARDENS

July 9, 2026

1/4 oz. = 700+ CRIMSON GIANT RADISH SEEDS PLANTING AND CULTIVATION INSTRUCTIONS BELOW This large (1″–2″ diameter) spring radish with crisp, white interior and mild flavor is refreshing in salads, on sandwiches, or eaten like an apple! Grows best during the cool weather of spring and fall. ‘Crimson Giant’ is fun for kids because it grows so fast! Cultivation Crimson Giant radish seeds produce large radishes with tasty round roots that grow quickly! If you love quick crops, this radish is for you! Zones 9-10Radishes are a cool season crop in Zones 9 and 10. You can plant them in the fall through late spring. In mild areas they can be grown year round with crop protection. Zones 2-8Direct sow seeds when the threat of frost has passed and soil can be worked in early spring. Planting Crimson Giant Radish SeedsIn Zones 9 and 10, direct seed in full sun or transplant out. Because of our hot fall weather, we often plant radishes in starter trays to protect them from the heat and Santa Santa Anna winds. We transplant them out in deeply irrigated soil under the protection of shade cloth. To direct sow, plant seeds in well-worked soil that has been deeply watered and is debris free. Cover with 1/2″ of finely sifted soil.If you are using starter pots, plant seeds into thoroughly moist high-quality seed starting soil. Place seeds on the top of the soil and cover with 1/2″ of finely sifted soil.Once your radish seeds have germinated and are 1-2″ tall, fertilize with an organic liquid fertilizer. When the plants are 3-4″ tall you can plant them out into the garden.Space plants at least 4″ apart. Growing Crimson Giant RadishesRadishes are easy to grow when grown in cool environments. Radishes do not respond well in hot, dry soils; they can become pithy and bitter.Mulching heavily around your plants will help with weed suppression and moisture retention. HARVESTING Crimson Giant RadishesRadishes can be pulled from the ground at their desirable size. Do not let radishes get too big as they will become fibrous. Growing Crimson Giant Radishes in ContainersRadishes are great for growing in containers. Just make sure your container is at least 10″ deep and wide enough to give each plant space to grow. Keep in mind containers will dry out faster because they have more surface area and less soil to hold onto moisture. Mulch heavily on the top layer of soil in the pot to keep the soil from drying out or heating up too much.

Radish Seeds – Daikon Raphanus sativus (45 days) AKA Japanese Minowase Daikon Radish. Daikon is a root vegetable reported to have originated in the Mediterranean and brought to China for cultivation around 500 B.C. Roots are large, often 2 to 4 inches in diameter and 6 to 20 inches long. Very easy to grow. Growing Zone: Daikon radishes, also known as Japanese radishes, are cool-season vegetables that thrive in USDA Hardiness Zones 2-10. They can be grown in both spring and fall, with the best results typically achieved in cooler weather. How to Grow Radish Seeds – Daikon Seeds: Seed Starting: Directly sow Daikon radish seeds into well-prepared soil as soon as the ground can be worked in early spring or late summer. Plant the seeds approximately 1/2 inch deep and space them 2-3 inches apart in rows, allowing for proper root development. Growing Conditions: Daikon radishes prefer full sun but can tolerate partial shade, especially in hotter climates. They thrive in loose, well-draining soil with a pH of 5.8-6.8. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, as overly wet conditions can cause rotting. Thinning: Once the Daikon radish seedlings emerge, thin them to ensure proper spacing. Thin the plants to 6-8 inches apart to allow room for the roots to develop fully. Maintenance: Daikon radishes require minimal maintenance beyond regular watering and occasional weeding. Monitor the plants for pests such as flea beetles and root maggots, and treat them promptly if detected. Mulching around the plants can help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Harvesting Time: Daikon radishes can be harvested once they have reached maturity, typically 45-60 days after planting. Harvest the radishes when they are young and tender, before they become woody or pithy. The best time to harvest is when the roots are 12-18 inches long and have a crisp texture. Uses of Daikon Radishes: Daikon radishes are versatile vegetables with a mild, slightly peppery flavor. They can be eaten raw in salads, sliced and added to sandwiches, or grated and used as a garnish. Daikon radishes are also commonly used in Asian cuisines, where they are pickled, stir-fried, or added to soups and stews. Additionally, Daikon radishes can be fermented to make traditional dishes such as kimchi and tsukemono. Rich in vitamin C, fiber, and other nutrients, Daikon radishes are a healthy and delicious addition to any diet.
