5 Fresh Wild Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) Plant Tubers

July 9, 2026

.:: 5 Fresh Wild Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) Plant Tubers ::. Click Pictures to Enlarge :: Description Up for your consideration today is 5 Fresh Wild Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) Plant Tubers. All of these tubers are freshly dug from my own personal flower beds and herb gardens. Dandelions help provide nectar and pollen to honeybees and other beneficial insects. This is particularly important in early spring when they are one of the only plants that are in bloom. The dandelion leaves, roots, and flowers are all edible. The young flowers taste like honey, but they will become bitter when they mature. The flowers can be used in wine, jam, teas, or salads. Dandelion leaves can be eaten raw or cooked, but the youngest, greenest leaves at the center are best for raw eating. The dandelion root is a coffee substitute and makes a great addition to any landscape where you would like to create edible foraging or simply a nice habitat for bees to enjoy. Another bonus is that dandelions have roots, which can help to break up compact soils. The seed head is a beautiful puffball, which is sure to delight both young and old when they blow on it to disperse the seed. These are perfect for anyone who love planting something that is beneficial for bees as they help pollinate during the growing season. A must-have for any serious gardener. Grow much like any other green. All endive likes cool weather, lots of moisture and rich, well-drained soil. Bed should be kept well-weeded. As with all greens, a border of ash will help deter slugs.
