Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is a low-growing, herbaceous perennial commonly grown as a ground cover in permaculture systems. The species has a similar use to the more common annual German Chamomile – the blossoms can be used fresh or dried as a calming tea – but the Roman Chamomile flowers that are denser and more pronounced. Early spring-sown seeds can flower in their first year (approximately 120 days), with later sowings flowering in their second and beyond.

Roman Chamomile. Self seeding perennial. 8-10 inches tall. This is the chamomile for making tea. Strew seeds on surface of prepared soil and press on hard so wind doesn’t blow seed away and keep moist until germination in 7 to 10 days. Sow seed early spring for flowers in early summer or sprinkle seed on ground in late Fall for Spring growth. No need to thin the plants as they grow fine closely together. 50 seeds per pkt.
