These Egyptian walking onions produce mild and sweet green onions in early spring and are a great onion to cook with when they get larger in early summer. They are perennial and will regrow year after year and the bulblets that form on the tops of the plant will root and grow wherever they fall on the ground. They have proven to be very hardy, never requiring water or care and they form patches that out-compete weeds. This variety is an heirloom that has been in my family for over forty years and these have been grown naturally and organically on my Kansas farm. The onion bulbs are one or two year old onions and can be planted anytime and will grow into full size plants in early spring and produce bulblets on the tops of each by mid summer from which a new onion patch can get established very quickly.
