Test Upland Cress (Barbarea verna) Check out our other listings! Upland Cress is a cold-hardy, biennial herb with round, glossy, dark green leaves similar to watercress. Though it is slower growing and slower to bolt than other cress varieties, it is also easier to maintain once established. Known as ‘creasy greens’ in the South, this leafy vegetable has a peppery taste that is great on its own or when mixed into a salad with other, milder greens. Also great on sandwiches and in soups and stews! Sow seeds indoors year round, or direct sow into garden from early spring to late summer for a continuous harvest. If direct sowing, plant shallowly (1/4 inch) in a block or wide band, about 15 seeds per foot. Keep soil moist as seeds are slow to germinate, and thin to 4-6 inches apart once the seedlings emerge. Will continue grow through mild winters if provided proper frost protection. 50 days to maturity. Cress Seeds for Sprouting Microgreens, “COOL BEANS N SPROUTS” Brand
“COOL BEANS N SPROUTS” Brand. All about your Cress Microgreen! To reap the health benefits of microgreens, eat them immediately after harvest. Microgreens, like most other superfoods that are consumed fresh, begin to lose their nutritional value rapidly after harvest. Consider growing your own microgreens at home as this will allow you to decide exactly when you harvest your crop. Microgreens are young vegetable greens that are approximately 1–3 inches (2.5–7.5 cm) tall. They have an aromatic flavor and concentrated nutrient content and come in a variety of colors and textures. Microgreens are considered baby plants, falling somewhere between a sprout and baby green. Cress is a popular microgreen due to how easy it is to grow and the fact that it’s one of the most nutrient-dense greens out there. It even beats the Almighty Kale in terms of nutrient density according to the USDA. The peppery taste and unique leaf structure make it a chef favorite, used in soups, salads, and garnishes. For the home cook, cress is great for juicing, smoothies, or as an addition to a salad mix to add some extra spice. Unlike many greens, cress seeds are mucilaginous. This means that they’ll take in water and form a mucus membrane around their hulls, so they don’t need as much water when germinating as other seeds. Spray them very lightly, and make sure your soil mixture isn’t too moist. You’ll have low germination rates if you use too much water. After 3-4 days, your cress seeds will be sprouted and will be ready for some light. Make sure you continue to water, but do not overwater your cress. You’ll get mold and potentially drown out the fragile root systems, leading to either rot or just a poor yield! For cress, you’ll want to harvest around the 8-12 day mark. Make sure your greens are as dry as possible when harvesting as any moisture on them when storing is conducive to mold and rot. If they’re a bit moist, lay them out on a drying rack or towel until dry. Turns out microgreens are not just a plain good-for-you food or a healthy garnish on salads and soups. Scientific research now proves that these tiny seedlings harvested and eaten when they are just a few inches tall are a real superfood packed with antioxidants and other health-promoting nutrients. 45+ Nasturtium Seeds ‘Jewel, Multicolored’ | Heirloom, Non-GMO, Flower Gardening
Untitled DocumentStoreFeedbackFollow UsNasturtium ‘Jewel, Multicolored’is prized in the garden for its brilliant two-inch blooms of variegated peachy orange, canary yellow, blood-carmine and salmon-colored shades. For centuries, Nasturtiums have been grown for eating; the young seed pods, leaves and flowers are all entirely edible with peppery-floral flavor notes. Use in a salad as a topper or simply grow for its beauty & pollinator benefits along side other important flowering plants. Nasturtiums have a ground-vining and trailing growth habit, meaning they like to spread outwards as far as 6 feet if adequate room is given, however the growth habit can be controlled by cutting them back. This easy to grow variety attracts pollinators, yet it is resistant to pests like deer and even does well in minor droughts. Grow Nasturtiums in hanging baskets, window boxes, large pots or garden beds for a low maintenance pop of color.Seed Quantity NOTE: To conserve resources we combine all orders of duplicate seed quantities of the same variety into one pack. For example, if you order two packages of 45 Nasturtium seeds, they will be combined into one pack of 90 seeds.Variety InfoNAME: Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus) VARIETY: Jewel Mix (multi-color) HARDINESS ZONE: Zones 2 – 11 PLANT TYPE: Annual STRATIFICATION: Not required DAYS TO MATURITY: 55 – 65 days POLLINATION: Open Pollinated SUNLIGHT: Full Sun / Partial Sun SOIL: Average, sandy or well-draining soils with a soil pH 6.3 – 7.5 PLANT HEIGHT: 10 – 14 inches SPACING: 16 – 24 inches TEMP: 50 – 90 °FShipping Info ⥇ Free shipping on all orders ⥇ Orders are mailed 1-3 business days after payment processes ⥇ Shipping time subject to change due to inclement local weather/USPS delays ⥇ We do not ship outside the contiguous USA (Virgin Island, Puerto Rico, Guam or Alaska) NOTE: If your eBay address is different than your actual shipping address you are obligated to change your eBay address to the proper mailing address otherwise, we will default to using your mailing address associated with your eBay account.
