B. Seed Starting Fill seed trays or pots with seed-starting mix.Sow seeds ¼ inch deep and water gently.Provide warmth (70-80°F or 21-27°C) and adequate light (12-16 hours of light daily) using grow lights or a sunny window. C. Caring for Bell Peppers A. Watering Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Bell peppers require about 1-2 inches of water per week.Avoid overhead watering to reduce disease risks. B. Fertilizing Use a balanced fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10) at planting time.Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season, transitioning to a low-nitrogen fertilizer once fruits set. C. Pruning and Support Remove any yellowing leaves and suckers to improve air circulation.Consider staking or using cages for taller varieties to support the fruits. D. Pest and Disease Management Monitor for common pests like aphids, spider mites, and thrips. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil as needed.Watch for diseases such as blossom end rot and powdery mildew. Maintain good air circulation and avoid overwatering. 4. Harvesting Bell Peppers A. Timing Bell peppers can be harvested at any stage, but they taste sweeter when left to ripen fully on the plant.Typically, green bell peppers can be harvested about 60-90 days after transplanting, while colored varieties may take an additional 1-2 weeks. B. How to Harvest Use a sharp knife or garden shears to cut peppers from the plant, leaving a small portion of the stem attached.Avoid twisting or pulling the fruit to prevent damage to the plant. C. Storage Store harvested bell peppers in a cool, dry place. They can last about 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator’s crisper drawer. 5. Tips for Success Rotate crops annually to prevent soil-borne diseases.Consider companion planting with basil, parsley, or onions to deter pests.Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. With proper care and attention, you can enjoy a bountiful harvest of delicious bell peppers throughout the growing season. Happy gardening! As a seller, I understand that there may be some confusion when it comes to the terms and conditions of shipping and delivery. In order to provide clarity, I would like to address a few important points: 1. 3 business day shipping: We strive to ship out your order within three business days from the date of purchase. This means that weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are not considered business days, so please keep this in mind when estimating your delivery time. 2. No tracking on orders under $16: Due to the rising costs of delivery, we regretfully cannot provide tracking information for orders under $16. This allows us to keep our prices competitive while still offering reliable shipping services. 3. Estimated delivery dates: While we make every effort to provide accurate estimated delivery dates, they should be viewed as approximations. Various factors, such as unforeseen delays in transit, may impact the actual delivery date. We kindly ask for your understanding should any discrepancies arise. 4. Seller’s lack of control over third-party delivery: Once the order is placed with USPS or any third-party delivery service, we, as the seller, have no control over the speed of delivery. We rely on their efficiency and processes to ensure your package arrives in a timely manner. 5. Longer delivery times: In some cases, orders may take up to 15 business days to be delivered. While this is not typical, it is important to note that different factors, such as customs processes, distance, or volume of orders, can contribute to longer delivery times. 6. Contact seller before opening a case or leaving negative feedback: We kindly request that if you encounter any issues with your order, please reach out to us directly before opening a case or leaving negative feedback. We are here to help and will do everything we can to resolve any problems you may have. 7. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATRONAGE AND HAPPY GARDENING! HOMEGROWN VEGETABLES JUST TASTE BETTER! INCLUDES BASIC GROWING INSTRUCTIONS a quick note on seed storage… I feel through my experience the best way to store your seed is in the refrigerator. Some vegetable varieties produce seed that remains viable for many years (tomatoes) and others produce seed that does not store well under any conditions (onions). I believe seed stored under refrigerated conditions could last 10 years or more. I have just planted some ACE 55 seeds from 2000 this last summer 2017. They did great! Germination rates were in the 90% range and these seeds had been sitting in a box in my garage for the past 17 years! I have some of that seed available now listed as Marlboro Ace 55. GET SOME! At Frontier Farms, we specialize in many varieties of Heirloom tomatoes, peppers, plus many other vegetable varieties. WHAT IS AN HEIRLOOM? Heirloom plants are grown from seeds that have been handed down thru generations, saved from year to year, some varieties dating back hundreds of years. Many made the migration from Europe and the East with the immigrants coming to the USA. The seeds are never cross pollinated and so they remain true to their particular characteristics. Heirloom tomatoes come in all colors, shapes, and sizes ? Reds, Pinks, Yellows, Orange, White, Green, Striped, and Black. Ranging in sizes of cherry and grape to large grapefruit size, meaty, or juicy. WHY HEIRLOOM? These tomatoes are more natural, they are non GMO (genetically modified). They do not have as long of a shelf life as store bought tomatoes, but that is what makes them special. They have a real fantastic tomato flavor not found in grocery store offerings. These tomatoes are indeterminate (they grow all season, they flower all season and they produce tomatoes all season. They don?t stop until frost. Once heirloom tomatoes are picked, they do not have a long shelf life as hybrids but they more than make up for any shortcomings in flavor. Please see my other listings and my store for more great varieties and thank you!
