Perique tobacco seeds (1000+ seeds)
Perique Almost every pipe and cigar enthusiast knows the history of Perique. Perique was first cultivated by the Choctaw and Chickasaw in the deep south and dates back prior to 1776. They would pack the tobacco leaves in hollowed out logs to age. Years later as settlers spread across the US a local farmer by the name of Pierre Chenet in Louisiana’s Saint James Parish was credited as developing the method of pressing and fermenting Perique into a much sought after form of very strong and dark tobacco. The processed form of tobacco was given a name synonymous with the variety it was derived from and is also referred to as perique. There are many online resources that detail the process of how to make perique at home. What many people don’t realize is that even when unprocessed and simply air cured, Perique makes for a pleasant tobacco variety and is an excellent choice for a home growers use in pipe, cigar, cigarettes and chewing tobacco. The leaves air cure easily from a light to mid brown color and do not require an extensive aging period prior to use. They have a mid to low nicotine content and provide a pleasant rich smoke with just a hint of sweetness. Pressing and fermenting the leaves into “Perique” yields an entirely different and stronger flavor profile. The long dark green leaves can reach over two feet in length and the plant can grow over 6 feet tall. The plants are hardy and disease resistant. All seed was collected from bagged flower heads to prevent cross contamination. I do not use any non-organic pesticides, fungicides, or insecticides and all plants are grown here in the beautiful USA. Each package comes with 1000+ seed and germination instructions. Basma Tobacco – Nicotiana seeds (1000+ per packet)
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Turkish Basma has a distinct flavor and aroma that many cigarette and pipe smokers love. Basma is an excellent strain of Turkish oriental tobacco that is grown near the region of Turkey and Greece. It has a mild semi sweet flavor profile with the characteristic wonderful rich aroma of Turkish tobacco. Like many orientals it is low in nicotine (roughly 1%), easy to smoke and brings a very pleasant component to blends for cigarette, pipe, and hookah use. Due to its high sugar content and pleasant aroma, Basma was once very famous for its use in snuff and is still used in modern snuff and chewing tobacco mixes. Basma is smooth and flavorful enough to be enjoyed unblended as well. The goal with growing Basma, like many orientals, is to focus on leaf quality rather than yield. Basma is grown closer together and under drier conditions than most broadleaf tobaccos in order to achieve smaller leaves with stronger flavor profiles. Optimally, Basma should not be allowed to grow much taller than 5-5.5 feet in height and leaves should not get much larger than hand sized. Basma can get larger under good growth conditions but the leaf quality and flavor will decrease. Like many orientals, the lack of yield from an individual plant is made up for by having many more plants growing closer together in a given area. Plants can be grown closely spaced at 12 inches apart and kept under dry conditions (once established) to limit excessive growth. Basma is an excellent variety to grow in pots with a one gallon pot size being sufficient for a single plant. Basma is also topped with a cluster of beautiful pinkish trumpet shaped flowers which brings a note of beauty to the garden and is great at attracting hummingbirds. Basma is very hardy and will often start out larger and grow faster than many broadleaf varieties during the first few months. Basma is typically sun cured but can also be air cured although some of the sweeter notes will be lost. To sun cure, harvest the leaves and allow them to wilt for a day or two in the shade then place them in the sun until the leaves are uniformly light brown and dry (usually 3-5 days). Basma can be used immediately after sun curing, but will provide a smoother smoke if allowed to age for about a year. Basma is a good choice if you are after the quintessential Turkish oriental tobacco flavor and aroma. All my plants are grown in the USA and I do not use any non-organic pesticides, fungicides or herbicides. Seed is collected from individually bagged flower heads to ensure varietal purity. Free shipping in the US. International shipping is calculated when sale is finalized. Tracking is not available. Seed will be sent in a discreet envelope.

Florida Sumatra Tobacco Seeds (1000+ per packet)
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Florida Sumatra Florida Sumatra is a classic non GMO heirloom variety of tobacco that has played a large role in the cigar industry in the US for over a century. It is still widely sought after as a premium cigar wrapper and has been used by many well-known cigar manufactures. Traditionally Florida Sumatra was shade grown to produce exceptional wrapper quality leaf. It provides a very nice light to mid brown flexible wrapper with a slightly spicy aroma and smooth smoking profile. Florida Sumatra can also be sun grown to give it a slightly thicker leaf with an oilier quality and stronger flavor profile. It makes an excellent cigar wrapper and can also be used as a filler. Like most cigar varieties Florida Sumatra can also be used in chewing tobacco. Florida Sumatra is a robust plant that often averages 6 feet or more. It provides a good yield of cigar wrapper quality leaf as well as filler, and is very hardy and disease resistant. The plants mature in 50-60 days after transplanting outside. Leaves average 2 feet in length and about 15 inches wide. The lower leaves can be primed as they mature or the entire plant can be stalk harvested at the end of the growing season. The leaves do not require flu curing and can easily be air cured without any specialized equipment. All seed was collected from bagged flower heads to prevent cross contamination. I do not use any non-organic pesticides or herbicides and all seed is grown here in the beautiful USA. Each package comes with 1000+ seed and germination instructions. Free shipping in the US. International shipping is calculated when sale is finalized. Tracking is not available. Seed will be sent in a discreet envelope.
