Sowing: Since onions take a few months to mature from seed, gardeners with a short growing season may want to start their Tokyo Long White bunching onion seed indoors. Plant the organic onion seeds 1/2″ deep in a flat 2-3 months before the last frost date; keep the soil moist and at room temperature. When the tops begin to flop over, cut them off to 3″ to focus the growing on the roots. Four weeks before the last frost or when the soil reaches at least 50 degrees F, transplant the seedlings in rows 12″ apart. For direct sowing, sow three seeds per inch 1/2″ deep in light, rich soil and full sun. Thin the seedlings 2-6″ apart, depending on the desired size. Thinned onions can be transplanted or used for fresh eating. For companion planting benefits, plant organic onion seeds with members of the cabbage family, lettuce, or tomatoes; avoid planting onions with peas or beans. In areas with warmer winters, onions may be grown as a fall or winter crop. Check Our Store For Many More Flowers, Fruit & Vegetables

300 TOKYO WHITE LONG BUNCHING ONION SEEDS FRESH HARVEST FOR 2024 GARDENS

July 9, 2026

300 TOKYO LONGWHITE BUNCHINGONION SEEDS Guide to Cultivating Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions, also known as Japanese bunching onions, are a popular vegetable known for their long, slender white stalks and mild flavor. They can be enjoyed cooked or raw in various culinary dishes. If you’re interested in growing these versatile onions in your own garden, here is an in-depth guide to help you cultivate Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions successfully. 1. Choosing the Right Location: Select a location in your garden that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. The soil should be well-draining, loose, and nutrient-rich. Consider adding organic matter such as compost to improve the soil’s fertility and water retention. 2. Preparing the Soil: Start by removing any weeds or large rocks from the planting area. Loosen the soil using a garden fork or a tiller, ensuring it is deep enough to accommodate the roots. Rake the area to create a smooth, even surface for planting. 3. Planting the Seeds: Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions are typically grown from seeds. Sow the seeds directly into the prepared soil, spacing them about an inch apart and planting them ¼ to ½ inch deep. Alternatively, you can start the seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost and transplant them outside once the soil has warmed up. 4. Thinning the Seedlings: Once the seedlings have grown to about 3 inches in height, thin them out by removing the weaker seedlings, leaving a spacing of around 4-6 inches between each plant. Thinning ensures that each onion has enough room to grow robustly. 5. Watering and Fertilizing: Water the plants regularly, providing around 1 inch of water per week. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to fungal diseases. As the onions grow, apply a balanced organic fertilizer every four to six weeks, following the package instructions for proper application rates. 6. Mulching and Weeding: Covering the soil with a layer of mulch helps retain moisture and restricts weed growth, which can compete with the onions for nutrients and water. Apply a 2-3 inch layer of organic mulch around the onion plants, being careful not to let the mulch touch the stems. 7. Harvesting: Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions can be harvested when they reach a desired size, usually between 60 and 120 days after sowing. Gently loosen the soil around the base of the plant, then carefully lift the onions out of the ground. Trim the roots and remove any excess soil, but avoid removing too much of the green tops. Popular Recipe: Tokyo Long White Bunching Onion Pancakes Ingredients: – 2 cups of Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions (finely chopped) – 2 eggs – 1 cup of all-purpose flour – 1 cup of water – 1 teaspoon of salt – Vegetable oil (for frying) Instructions: 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. 2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add them to the flour mixture. Slowly stir in the water until a smooth batter forms. 3. Add the chopped Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions to the batter and mix well. 4. Heat a small amount of vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. 5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the pan, creating small pancake-like patties. Flatten them slightly with a spatula. 6. Cook the pancakes for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. 7. Remove from the pan and drain excess oil on a paper towel. 8. Serve hot, optionally garnished with additional chopped onions or your favorite dipping sauce. Health Benefits: Tokyo Long White Bunching Onions offer several health benefits, including: 1. High nutritional value: They are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as essential minerals like potassium and calcium. 2. Antioxidant properties: Onions contain flavonoids and sulfur compounds that have strong antioxidant effects, helping to reduce oxidative stress in the body. 3.
