This okra is an extra-early maturing variety that boasts a very compact plant with small leaves. Before Planting: Soak the okra in water for 12 to 18 hours prior to planting to soften the outer shell of the seed. Plant okra in the spring or early summer after the danger of frost has passed. In northern climates, plant okra indoors four to six weeks prior to the last frost date. Since okra can reach 6 feet tall, plant it in an area of the garden where its shade wont harm other plants growth. Planting: For direct seeding, after frost danger, sow 2 apart, 1/2 deep when soil is warm at least 70F. Thin to 12-18 apart. For transplanting, sow in 2 pots, 2-3 seeds per pot, 1/4 deep and thin to 1 plant when 2 high. Start 4-5 weeks ahead of transplanting out after frost danger when soil is warm. Keep soil mix temp. 80-90F for best germination rate. Transplant 12-18 apart in rows 3 apart. About Us We are a small family run seed processor that has a long tradition of farming for many generations. I fondly remember my Grandfather telling stories about his Grandfather tilling the earth and the events that impacted his success. The stories bring to life the courage and creativity required to survive capricious weather and market prices. Our history makes it clear that the rewards of farming, including the birthing of the calves, the bounty of a good harvest, and the family’s feeling of being rooted in the soil. I still remember with pride, getting to sit on my Grandfathers lap while driving the tractor for the first time during corn harvest. In addition to commercial crops, most family farms also have large gardens to grow much of the food consumed on a farm. Growing your own vegetables, flowers, spices and herbs, canning and freezing were a normal part of life on the farm. We always saved seed from each plant for starting the cycle for the next year. We would like the opportunity to share some of these seeds with you. Get images that make Supersized seem small.Showcase your items with Auctiva’s Listing Templates!
