20 PURPLE FLOWERED PICKERAL RUSH SEEDS – Pontederia cordata

July 8, 2026

I’m selling over 600 + kinds of seeds ( and also live plants during the warmer months ) so check my other auctions . You are bidding on about 20 PURPLE PICKERAL RUSH SEEDS – Pontederia cordata .I’m also selling these as live plants during the warmer months . The Pickerel rush requires full sun to grow and bloom between May and October in order to flower. The plant itself can grow to 3 feet and does an excellent job of filtering your pond water. The roots systems filter out algae in great quantities, making this plant invaluable in the pond. The leaf size can grow to 8″ x 3″ making it a very narrow arrowhead shaped leaf that is olive green, clumping into lush groups. This plant is a beautiful aquatic pond plant that is also winter hardy, growing in zones 4-11. Medicinal use of Pickerel Weed: An infusion of the plant has been used as a contraceptive. Edible parts of Pickerel Weed: Seed – raw, cooked like rice or dried and ground into a powder. An very acceptable nutty flavor and texture when raw, they are said to be excellent if the seed is lightly roasted in an oven. Young leafstalks – raw or cooked. The whole plant is edible cooked or raw. It can be added to salads, cooked like spinach or added to soups. See my store for 600+ seeds , live plants ( during the warmer months ) and over 300+ books on plants and gardening . I add new items every day and combine shipping whenever possible .
