The maroon and white flowers are fragrant, around 1/2″ inch. It is in bloom from late spring until late fall. It prefers to grow in full sun to part shade with average water needs. 50 + GIANT SWEET RED BELL PEPPER SEEDS – FREE SHIPPING SALE! 50 + GIANT SWEET RED BELL PEPPER SEEDS – FREE SHIPPING SALE! LARGE BLOCKY FLESHY FRUITS 4″ TALL & 3-4” ACROSS When you grow RED BELL PEPPERS, the pepper plants start with little flowers that will later have green immature fruit. They mature into beautiful RED fruit. A red pepper just needs extra time and lots of sun. They need 100+ days to reach full maturity. To give your pepper plants a great head start, plant red pepper seeds indoors about 8-12 weeks before you set them outside when there is no chance of frost & it is warm in your planting zone. Cover the seed with about 1/4″ of moistened planting mix in flats or peat pots (preferably enclose the flat in a plastic bag or cover) and put it in a very sunny spot or provide artificial light for 24 hours a day until they start sprouting, which can take from 10 days to more than 2 weeks. When you see most of the seeds sprouting, uncover the plants. They then need either a sunny window or artificial light for 16 hours a day to simulate daylight. When there is no chance of FROST, you start by hardening the plant, which means that put them outside for a few hours a day when the sun is not too strong. Gradually you lengthen the time they are outside until you can plant your plants in the ground that has already warmed. RED PEPPER PLANTS love sun and warm soil. When you plant your red pepper plant outside the soil must be warm. You can add mulch to keep the temperature of the soil from heating up too much in hot weather. It is great if you give the pepper plant support or a cage, since the peppers can weigh the plant down & break it if there are many on the plant. Fertilize regularly with good organic or other fertilizer specifically for VEGETABLES. Red peppers need phosphorous, magnesium & calcium. Water regularly and try not to let the soil get completely dry. HARVEST: You can harvest the peppers even when they are full sized and green, but they are much sweeter when you let them FULLY mature to RED on the plant. *** WHEN THEY ARE RIPE, CUT THE PEPPERS OFF THE PLANT WITH PLANT SHEARS OR SCISSORS!!! DON’T SNAP THEM OFF THE PLANT, SINCE THEY HOLD ON VERY TIGHTLY & YOU CAN BREAK THE WHOLE PLANT!! YOU WILL ALWAYS RECEIVE A LOVELY FREE THANK YOU GIFT WITH YOUR PURCHASE !!
