It grows up to 12 inches tall with lance-shaped grayish-green leaves. The plant produces clusters of small tubular flowers in shades of pink, lavender, or white, emitting a sweet fragrance. It thrives in sandy or well-draining soil, prefers full sun, and attracts pollinators. Fragrant sand verbena is low maintenance and suitable for rock gardens, xeriscapes, and containers. Propagation is possible from seeds or stem cuttings, and regular pruning helps maintain its shape. Zones 9-11GerminationTo germinate Abronia fragrans seeds, scarify the hard outer seed coat by lightly rubbing or nicking them with sandpaper. Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Sow the seeds in well-draining soil and lightly cover them with a thin layer of soil. Maintain a consistent moisture level and provide indirect sunlight. Germination may take several weeks. Transplant the seedlings to their permanent location after the danger of frost has passed.
