Crimson Clover Seed (Non GMO) Inoculated & Coated

Crimson Clover Seed Crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum) is one of the most colorful forage plants and is frequently seen along roadsides, where it is planted for highway beautification. Crimson clover is a reseeding winter annual with an erect growth habit and a shallow taproot system. The flowers are a brilliant red color, elongated in shape, and often more than two inches long. The leaves are dark green and covered with dense hairs. Adaptation Crimson clover is best adapted to the heavier, well-drained soils, performing poorly on dry, sandy, and poorly drained sites. Crimson clover produces more forage at low temperatures than other clovers. It is fairly tolerant of soil acidity and is often seeded in mixture with small grains and ryegrass. Crimson clover is also often seeded into warm-season perennial grass pastures (bermudagrass and bahiagrass) and may reseed under some management conditions. Planting Crimson clover seed should be planted at 20 to 26 pounds of seed per acre. Most improved crimson clover varieties are adapted to Florida conditions, but they vary in spring maturity. Seeds germinate in the fall, and plants produce very little top growth while developing a strong root system, so very little forage is available for grazing before February. Grazing should be delayed until 6-8 inches of growth accumulate. Terminate grazing when plants are 3-5 inches in height. Crimson then grows rapidly until flowering begins about mid-April. Forage is very high quality with both leaves and stems readily consumed. Although it is generally grazed, it may be harvested as high-quality hay or silage. If trying to manage for reseeding, reduce grazing pressure for about three weeks when in full flower.

Fixation Balansa Clover

FIXatioN Balansa clover is the most cold-tolerant annual clover, able to withstand temperatures down to -14˚F. FIXatioN can also tolerate a variety of soil types and can even grow through short periods of standing water. As an annual clover, FIXatioN helps with soil drainage and water infiltration due to its deep tap root system.Balansa clover requires inoculation with a specific strain of rhizobia which helps the plants fix nitrogen in the soil. This inoculant is contained in the orange coating of FIXatioN, which also makes the seed heavier and larger, creating an easier planting process. Alsike Clover Seed Alsike clover (Trifolium hybridum L.) is used for hay, pasture, and soil improvement. It grows well in poorly drained soil and offers high forage quality, similar to alfalfa. Preferring wetter soils over droughty soils, Alsike will tolerate lengthy spring flooding and completely waterlogged soil. In these conditions, alsike can still provide red-clover quality forage for multiple years (in southern locations, alsike acts as an annual).Alsike is well adapted to northern climates and cooler summers. It also has good winter hardiness. Alsike does not tolerate shade.Alsike leaves are smooth and sit on semi-erect, long, thin stems.The flowers are white or pale pink. The flowers bend down and turn brown after pollination. Like red clover, Alsike has a branch tap root that grows as deep as 4 feet.As a biennial, alsike usually lives two to three years and produces one to two good harvests per year. It can reach a mature height of two to four feet. Alsike works well with lower growing or managed grasses.Alsike is susceptible to lodging. It is normally planted as a grass/legume mix. It is also used in combinations with red clover for planting on fields with portions that are either water-logged or have a lower pH.
