Summer savory (Satureja hortensis) is among the best known of the savory genus. It is an annual, but otherwise is similar in use and flavor to the perennial winter savory. It is used more often than winter savory, which has a slightly more bitter flavor. Summer savory is widely renowned as a culinary herb with a smoother flavor than Winter Savory and similar to marjoram, but unique to itself. Originally introduced to England from the Mediterranean, it quickly took its place along with thyme, marjoram and basil. It was one of the herbs that Charlemagne specifically ordered planted in his own royal garden. Cool Beans n Sprouts Brand Main picture does not indicate the amount being sent. Its Skin is decorated with pastel purple vertical blotches and can vary in shade meaning it can be a darker purple or a very light purple mixed with white. Early Italian Purple garlic will mature 5 to 10 days earlier than most other garlic varieties. This softneck is excellent for mild climates. The bulbs are medium size with a range of 6 to 9 cloves that are wrapped in the striped purple skins. It is said to be a fairly mild garlic and slightly sweet to some people’s pallets with flavor and pungency middle of the scale but with rich tones. Softneck garlic is easy to grow with a few tips. This variety performs well in United States Department of Agriculture zones 3 to 8. Garlic needs well-draining soil in full sun for best production. Plant cloves in fall or in early spring as soon as soil can be worked. Plant cloves 2 inches (5 cm.) deep and 6 inches (15 cm.) apart. Adzuki Bean “COOL BEANS n SPROUTS” Brand. – Microgreen- Home Garden
“COOL BEANS n SPROUTS” brand- Adzuki Bean Sprouting Seeds. Adzuki beans sprout into large shoots with a beautiful maroon color, making them not only a beautiful, but also nutritious and delicious addition to salads, stir fries, sandwiches and more. Adzuki bean sprouts are rich in vitamins E, C, B and A as well as calcium and iron. How to Sprout Beans: A wide-mouth quart canning jar: pretty self-explanatory or a Seed Sprouter. Sprouting jar lid: This is a lid that fits on your canning jar and has a mesh screen in the center. (You will need to purchase this separately) You can make your own version with a canning ring and a piece of cheesecloth or mesh screen. Water: You’ll want a double or triple water to beans ratio. Pour about 1/2 cup of beans into a bowl of cold water (use at least 1 cup of water). Let soak for up to 24 hours. Pour your bean and water mixture into your canning jar. Place your sprouting lid on the jar. Rinse the beans twice with cool water, draining the excess water out of the screen. Place your jar on its side out of direct sunlight. Somewhere on your kitchen counter should be perfect. Rinse and drain your beans and sprouts a few times daily, being careful not to leave excess water in the jar. If you’re using a sprouting lid, you can just invert your jar to let the water drain out. Depending on your bean and your desired sprout length, the sprouting process will take from three to seven days. When the beans in your jar are all sprouted, place the jar on your window sill to get some direct sunlight. Leave it there for a few hours so the sprouts color up a bit. If you’re sprouting some of the tougher beans (like black beans) you may notice some of the skins have come off, this is normal. You can remove them or leave them in, it won’t affect the sprouted beans’ flavor. Store the jar of sprouts in the refrigerator for up to a week, continuing to rinse your sprouts at least once each day. Horseradish Root whole, Ready for Eating, Planting. Can’t Ship internationally.
We can NOT ship Horseradish root internationally. If you place an order to be sent to an address out of the US will will have to cancel it. Horseradish Root is sold by WEIGHT not volume and not sold by piece. Picture does NOT indicate the amount being sent . You will be sent the amount you choose under weight amount options. Picture does not indicate the shape or size of your piece or pieces . *** Note: Horseradish can develop soft or moldy spots without affecting the quality of the root itself. This is a natural characteristic of Horseradish and should simply be removed by scraping off or wash under warm water and allow to air dry*** Horseradish root freshly harvested will be very firm and is still just fine at the firmness of an uncooked potato. Horseradish should be scrubbed with a brush under running water, prior to use. THIS IS FRESH HORSERADISH ROOT. THIS COMES FROM A LOCAL HORSERADISH FARM IN ILL. YOU WILL RECIEVE EITHER A WHOLE ROOT OR SEVERAL PIECES OF FRESH ROOT WHICH EVER ADDS UP TO THE WEIGHT AMOUNT YOU PURCHASED. HORSERADISH ROOT IS VERY LARGE AND IS CUT TO WEIGHT AMOUNTS , WE CANNOT PROMISE OR GAURANTEE WHICH PARTS OF ROOT IS RECIEVED. The intact horseradish root has hardly any aroma. When cut or grated, however, enzymes from the now-broken plant cells break down sinigrin (a glucosinolate) to produce allyl isothiocyanate (mustard oil), which irritates the mucous membranes of the sinuses and eyes. Grated mash should be used immediately or preserved in vinegar for best flavor. Once exposed to air or heat it will begin to lose its pungency, darken in color, and become unpleasantly bitter tasting over time. Freshly grated horseradish emits fumes that can make your nose run and irritate your eyes, so prepare it in a well-ventilated area or even outside if your eyes are extremely sensitive. Wrap in a damp paper towel to store, place in a plastic bag and refrigerate. We recommend you use it within 2-4 days. Horseradish will loose potency over time and become overly soft. Planting Questions ? You will need to research your particular USDA planting zone. There are 13 of them in the US. Once you determine your USDA planting zone you can look up the best time to plant in that zone. We are always willing to help out with questions and concerns as much as we are able to, however if you message us asking about when to plant we will suggest to you the above information to look up. *** Note: Horseradish can develop soft or moldy spots without affecting the quality of the root itself. This is a natural characteristic of Horseradish and should simply be removed by scraping off or wash under warm water and allow to air dry***Horseradish should be scrubbed with a brush under running water, prior to use. Peel before using or grate with a sharp metal grater in the desired amount. If you’re not planning on process your root within a day or two then wrap your whole root in fresh paper towels and put in a Ziplock bag. Place it in the back of your refrigerator. Broccoli Seeds for Sprouting Microgreens “COOL BEANS n SPROUTS”
COOL BEANS n SPROUTS” Brand All about your Broccoli Microgreens ! To reap the health benefits of microgreens, eat them immediately after harvest. Microgreens, like most other superfoods that are consumed fresh, begin to lose their nutritional value rapidly after harvest. Consider growing your own microgreens at home as this will allow you to decide exactly when you harvest your crop.Another way to boost the nutritional value of recipes made with microgreens is to use extra-virgin olive oil or another healthy oil. The presence of oil helps improve the bioavailability of the fat-soluble nutrients in microgreens (carotenoids, vitamin E, and vitamin K). Some people use glass jars to grow their sprouts. If you already have a glass jar and don’t plan on growing a bunch of sprouts at once, you can use this technique and just get a plastic lid that is designed to fit on wide-mouthed glass jars – specifically for growing sprouts. A mason Jar also works. Between “sprouting sessions” you will need to clean and sanitize your sprouting jar. Be careful not to leave any soap or residue in the jar, as this can inhibit the growth of your next batch of sprouts. First, soak your seeds in a Vinegar and water solution, for 15 minutes to kill any harmful bacteria. Rinse well and soak the seeds in plain water overnight. The next morning, drain the seeds and place them in a mason jar. There are mesh lids made just for sprouting, or you can just replace the center part of the mason jar lid with cheesecloth or loosely woven muslin to allow air to circulate and excess water to drain. One to Twice daily, rinse and drain the seeds, placing your jar upside down within a bowl or tray to catch drainage. Within about 5 days, you can expect plump and flavorful sprouts. On the last day, place them in in a bright area, (not direct sun), being very careful not to let them dry out. This allows chlorophyll to form, which will cause them to become that healthful green color. God Bless Jacobs Ladder ent. Peppermint, (Mentha ×piperita), strongly aromatic perennial herb of the mint family (Lamiaceae). Peppermint has a strong sweetish odor and a warm pungent taste with a cooling aftertaste. The leaves are typically used fresh as a culinary herb, and the flowers are dried and used to flavor candy, desserts, beverages, salads, and other foods. Its essential oil is also widely used as a flavoring. The plant is a hybrid between watermint (Mentha aquatica) and spearmint (M. spicata) and is cultivated in Europe, Asia, and North America. Peppermint has square stems, stalked, smooth, dark green leaves, and blunt oblong clusters of pinkish lavender flowers. As with other mints, the plant can spread aggressively by means of stolon. Peppermint grown in a pot outside a house generally grows best in moist, shaded locations, and expands by underground rhizomes. Young shoots are taken from old stocks and dibbled into the ground about 1.5 feet apart. They grow quickly and cover the ground with runners if it is permanently moist. Garbanzo beans, also known as chickpeas, are small yellowish round beans popular in Middle Eastern and some European cooking. They can be creamy, nutty, and even meaty in a variety of recipes. Garbanzo beans are one of the easiest beans to sprout. Larger beans sprout better in cooler temperatures. Keep sprouting beans around 68-70°F, if possible. Larger beans require a longer soaking period and more frequent rinsing and draining, especially in warmer temperatures. Larger beans may not get enough air during draining. Make sure your sprouting container allows plenty of ventilation during draining periods. It is normal for the skins to loosen and come off the beans. Either pick the skins out or leave them in, as they do not affect the flavor. Sprouted beans require cooking before consuming.
