The leaves are an interesting purplish green on the top side, and eggplant purple on the reverse. Blooms are tall, long lasting spikes of bright lavender tubes that are present in a long lasting cycle from late spring to fall. It is a quick to establish, low maintenance plant that makes an excellent gift for a gardener of any skill level. Can be acclimated to grow indoors, makes an excellent porch or patio plant or can be incorporated in tropical shade gardens in mixed perennial beds or as a accent or bedding plant. Some plants in the Plectranthus species are restricted from sale in some states because they can spread by seed. Mona Lavender is a sterile hybrid.
