They grow 2 to 4 feet in height with dark green foliage. They are fast growers and self-sow their seed profusely. These midsummer bloomers can flower from midsummer through fall frost! Coneflowers have raised cone-like centers (hence, the name) which contain seeds that attract butterflies. Leave the seed heads after bloom and you’ll also attract songbirds! Trouble-free, coneflowers are drought-tolerant, once established. They can take the heat! As native plants with prickly stems, they are more deer-resistant than most flowering plants. Growing Coneflower From SeedsDampen a Paper TowelFold a paper towel in half. Sprinkle it with water until it’s barely damp but not soggy.Treat the SeedsSprinkle the coneflower seeds on one-half of the paper towel. Fold the towel in half so the seeds are between two layers of moist towel. Seal the towel in a plastic bag and keep it in the refrigerator for eight to 12 weeks. This cold treatment mimics winter conditions and helps the seeds break dormancy so they can germinate. Prep the PotsFill 8-inch-deep seedling pots with moistened potting soil. Coneflowers need extra-deep pots because they develop very long taproots.Sow the SeedsSow two coneflower seeds in each pot, covering them with only a thin sprinkling of soil, and allow the pots to drain.Cover the PotsCover the pots with clear plastic to retain moisture and keep the pots in a warm room to germinate.Remove the BagRemove the bag once the seeds sprout and provide the seedlings with full sunlight. Water the plants when the soil surface dries.Transplant the SeedlingsMove the coneflowers outside once they produce their second set of true leaves and after average nighttime temperatures are above 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Transplant them to a full-sun, well-drained perennial bed.Water the ConeflowersProvide coneflowers with approximately 1 inch of water a week during the growing season. Apply up to 1 inch of compost around each plant in spring to replenish the nutrients in the soil.Store PoliciesAll seeds will come in a resalable plastic zip lock bag and placed in a bubble envelope so the seeds are not damaged by shipping machines. To grow Brugmansia from seed, you would follow standard seed-sprouting protocol. Begin by soaking the seeds overnight in warm water to soften the outer hull and hopefully create a split that will help the seed sprout faster and with greater ease. Prepare a seed tray or small pots with pre-moistened, well-drained potting soil or seed-starting mix. When planting, take care not to bury the seeds deeply. They need exposure to light to germinate. You can either press them gently into the surface of light, airy soil or cover them very lightly. Sow the seeds indoors early in the springtime. Cover the trays or pots with plastic wrap and keep them in a warm (65-70 degrees Fahrenheit) place with good natural or artificial light. Keep them carefully at temperatures of 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. Germination should take 2-4 weeks, but sometimes it takes much longer. If all goes well, you should see results in a couple of weeks, but remember to be patient. Months could elapse before your plants emerge. Just keep your hopeful plants warm and provide them ample light and consistent moisture. 50+ Orange Trumpet Vine Seeds (Campsis radicans) Showy Crepper Flower Free S&HShipped in an envelope without tracking. If you would like tracking add $3.00. Campsis radicans, the trumpet vine, orange trumpet vine, or trumpet creeper, is a species of flowering plant in the family Bignoniaceae, native to eastern North America, and naturalized elsewhere. Growing to 10 meters, it is a vigorous, deciduous woody vine, notable for its showy trumpet-shaped flowers. This plant has low severity poison characteristics. Trumpet vine is a dense, vigorous, multi-stemmed, deciduous, woody vine in the Bignoniaceae (begonia) family that attaches itself to structures and climbs by aerial rootlets. Trumpet vines bloom on new growth, so deadheading after the flowers will encourage a second showing. Trumpet-shaped yellow, orange, and red flowers bloom from June to September in the summer. A trumpet vine is an excellent pick for a pollinator or hummingbird garden, attracting swarms of winged creatures all summer. You’ll have rafts of flowers for months, too.Trumpet vines prefer well-draining soil, but they’ll thrive in almost any soil. No need to add organic matter at the time of planting. They grow in part shade to full sun, but you’ll get the most blooms in full sun. Planting trumpet vine in a container is an excellent way to control its natural tendency to spread. A container of at least 20 gallons is necessary. Place a trellis or other structure behind the planter to give trumpet vine a place to grow. Prune regularly to control its growth. The flowers and the whole plant are blood tonic, carminative, depurative diuretic and febrifuge. They are used in the treatment of women’s complaints. A decoction of the flowers is used to correct menstrual disorders, rheumatoid pains, traumatic injuries, difficult urination, pruritis and oozing dermaphytoses. Trumpet vine is used to treat menstrual disorders, rheumatoid pain, and difficult urination. Caution: Plant parts are slightly toxic if ingested.

We only ship in the U.S.************* Please read full listing before purchasing ************* Growing Bamboo from Seed Place the bamboo seeds in a strainer and rinse them with cool water to remove any dust or debris that may be clinging to the seeds. Pour the seeds into a bowl. Make a 10 percent salt solution and pour it over the seeds. Let the seeds soak in this solution for five minutes. Pour the seeds back into the strainer and rinse off the salt solution. Soak the seeds in clear water for 15 minutes, and drain them to dry. Make a half-and-half mixture of perlite and peat moss. Moisten the mixture until you can grab a handful and just barely squeeze out a drop. Place the soil mixture in a flat planter box with a lid. A plastic sweater box with holes poked in the bottom is the ideal size and shape for this project. Draw rows in the soil mix about 1 inch deep and plant a sprinkling of seeds along each row. Alternately, dig a round hole 2 inches across and 1 inch deep. Sprinkle about 10 seeds in the bottom of the hole. Cover the surface of the mix with these holes. Cover the seeds with very fine soil mix. Place the lid on the box and move the box to a spot where it won’t be disturbed. Remove the lid every three days to give the plants fresh air. Moisten the soil mix during this time if it has begun to dry out. Replace the lid after you have watered the mix. Remove the lid permanently after the seedlings reach the lid inside. The first seedlings will sprout after two to three weeks, and the seeds will continue to sprout until they have all emerged. Mix an all-purpose houseplant fertilizer according to the package directions. Pour the fertilizer into a clean spray bottle and mist the plants once they are four weeks old. Transplant the seedlings into individual pots after they have been growing for a month. Use the same soilless mix for growing the seedlings indoors. They can be propagated by division in spring or fall, by softwood cuttings in late spring, or seeds. Bright flowers and a minty fragrance make bergamot (Monarda) plants ideal for perennial borders. Bergamot is known by several other names, including bee balm, monarda and Oswego tea. The shaggy-looking clusters of flowers begin blooming in midsummer and last for several weeks. These mopheaded flowers attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds, making the plant ideal for a wildlife garden. Even better is the fact that bergamot is appropriate for nearly all climate zones. Growing Bee Balm from Seed You can plant bergamot seeds outdoors in early spring while the soil is cool and there is still a chance of a light frost. Cover the seeds with a light dusting of soil. When the seedlings have two sets of true leaves, thin them to 18 to 24 inches apart. If you prefer to start the plants indoors, start them eight to 10 weeks before you plan to transplant them outside. We only ship in the U.S. ************* Please read full listing before purchasing ************* Hollyhocks · Full Sun · Zone: 3-9 Low Maintenance · Attracts Birds and Butterfly’s · Summer Blooms Sowing and growing instructions 1. Fill a tray with compost and water it well to ensure that it is consistently moist. If you water after sowing, you can wash the seeds about and bunch them together – not what you want. 2. Sow the large seeds individually, spacing about an inch apart on the compost surface, in a grid. Don’t push in the seed, as you then won’t be able to see each one. If you are distracted, it’s all too easy to forget where you’ve sown and where seeds still need to go. Left on the top, they are clearly visible. When the tray is full, cover lightly with compost. 3. Spaced widely, the seeds can germinate and grow on for a few weeks before you prick them out. This saves you time in the end, rather than simply chucking seed about willy-nilly. 4. Place the tray in a warm and cozy spot to germinate. You don’t need light at this stage. I cover seed trays with an empty compost bag – opened out – to keep in warmth and moisture and speed germination. If you do this, after about a week, check trays every morning and night for germination. Once this starts, remove the light-excluding plastic. 5. Hollyhocks take 10-14 days to germinate and then another 3-4 weeks before they’re ready for pricking out. If roots are showing at the base of the tray, they’re ready to move on. 6. To prick out, handle only the seed leaves, not the stem (which bruises very easily). Get a pencil (or stiff plant label) right under each plant and try to tease out every individual seedling, roots and all. 7. Place each seedling into its own pot of peat-free compost, firm down and water. 8. The ideal spot for growing on has maximum all-round light – ideally, plants should have warm roots but cool tops. 9. Hollyhocks will be ready for planting out in the garden by June, but won’t flower well until the following year. 10. You might get the odd plant trying to flower sooner, but snip off the flower spike. This helps the roots to get established before the demands of flowering begin. Turban squash, also known as “Turk’s Turban” or “French turban” (“Giraumon” in French), is a type of squash most often used as a winter squash. It is an heirloom from France predating 1820. As a member of the Curcurbita family, Turk’s Turban is related to pumpkins, squash and gourds. So, it’s no wonder pumpkin growers call it a pumpkin, gourd lovers consider it an ornamental gourd and squash growers commonly refer to it as a winter squash. You can decide where this festive vegetable (actually, it is a fruit) should be categorized. Turk’s turban is a beautiful squash striped in red, orange, green and white. A cultivar of Cucurbita maxima, it is closely related to the buttercup squash. Fruits grow to about 12 inches in diameter and average about 5-6 pounds. This squash is used as both a vegetable and as an ornamental gourd. Turk’s Turban are perfect for decorating in fall displays. They look great among other pumpkins and gourds. You can use Turk’s Turban in any of your favorite squash recipes. It is good roasted, baked, steamed, in soups, or on the grill. How to grow Great Pumpkins or Squash Culture Pumpkins need a lot of sun. Choose the sunniest place you have; remember that pumpkins are sensitive and will need shelter from wind and frost. Try to protect pumpkins from the worst of the elements by covering them during cold nights Pumpkins like and need a lot of water, but don’t plant pumpkins in wet or dense soil. They need good, well-drained soil. Prepare the soil in early spring, as soon as the ground is warm. Fertilize the patch with a good four inches of rotting cow manure. Pumpkins do best in soil that is slightly acid or nearly neutral. If you live in a part of the country where there is still danger of frost in late April or early May, start pumpkin seeds indoors about two weeks before planting. Planting When seedlings have the fourth or fifth leaf, set them outdoors in hills about the size of a pitcher s mound, one plant to a hill. Protect pumpkin seedlings the first few weeks with plastic-covered frames. Space each hill at least 20 feet apart. Maintenance: Pumpkins need consistent watering, especially once fruit has set. If pollinators are not abundant, you may have to pollinate by hand, by removing the male blossoms and dusting them onto the female blossoms. The female blossoms can be distinguished by the tiny immature fruit at the base of the flower. Harvest: Pick fruit carefully, leaving a little stem, when the vines begin to dry out and the fruit is fully mature, usually after the first autumn frost. Sowing Pumpkin or Squash Seeds: For best results, please follow the instructions in the order provided. Scarify: Soak in water for 2-4 Hours Germination: Sow 1/2” to 1″ Deep, Keep Warm and moist (Not wet). Sow only after soil temperature has warmed up. About the same time you plant corn. Earlier indoors and transplant if you have a short growing season. Be sure to give pumpkins plenty of room on the ground Germination: Seeds Packets are labeled with seed name and sowing details.
