1- Medjool 1+ Year Old Date Palm Tree Seedling Phoenix Dactylifera Plant Sapling

July 9, 2026

1- Medjool 1+ Year Old Date Palm Tree Seedling, Phoenix dactylifera Food Plant Starter Medjool Date Palm, (Phoenix dactylifera), tree of the palm family (Arecaceae) cultivated for its sweet edible fruits. The date palm has been prized from remotest antiquity and may have originated in what is now Iraq. The fruit has been the staple food and chief source of wealth in the irrigable deserts of North Africa and the Middle East. Spanish missionaries carried the tree to the New World in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Date palms are grown in the Canary Islands, northern Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan, India, Mexico, and the U.S. state of California. This is a spectacular palm for landscaping large areas but can also be used in confined areas in urban landscapes. Plant in a deep pot that provides plenty of room for the taproot and provide plenty of light. This palm tree is drought tolerant and looks best when planted in full sun. Don’t place young palms too close to walkways where their sharp leaf spines might injure passersby. Place the seeds in a sterile medium which is only barely moist, but never too wet at approximately 1/2 inch deep. The soil you plant the palm tree seed in should almost feel dry to the touch. Nevertheless, don’t be tempted to add more water. Seal the seeds in an airtight container (such as a plastic sandwich box (recommended)) or a plastic bag. Place it in a warm-to-hot position; say above the hot-water tank. Temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit are ideal. Inspect the seeds daily. Many species germinate in as little as one or two weeks, but some may take quite a bit longer. When a root appears, carefully put the seeds into well-drained compost (e.g. 50/50 standard potting compost and coarse grit), and keep warm until the shoot appears. When the shoot appears place the palm in a warm, light place. If your room temperature is fairly cool, be very careful not to over-water as the roots of some palms (even the humble date palm) will rot if the compost is kept wet when the palms are not actively growing. 10 CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM Tree Seeds (Phoenix Canariensis) Hardy Fruit Plant

July 8, 2026

10 CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM TREE SEEDS (Phoenix canariensis) The Canary Island date palm (Phoenix canariensis) is a beautiful tree, native to the warm Canary Islands. You can consider planting a Canary Island date palm outdoors in zones 9-11. In cooler climates they make Great Indoor Plants as they can get huge in small containers like the one in picture #5 making them able to grow great anywhere. If you are dreaming of Canary palm trees growing in your backyard, you’ll need lots of room. Information on Canary date palms lists these trees as growing up to 65 feet tall with a potential spread of 40 feet. However, planting a Canary Island date palm is not entirely out of the question indoors, or if you have a small backyard. Canary palm trees growing speed is slow, and your specimen will only get to 10 feet tall during its first 15 years in the backyard. Canary date palms notes the long leaves of the species from 8 to 20 feet long and the extremely sharp spines at the frond base. The trunk can grow to 4 feet in diameter. Small white or gray blossoms produce showy ornamental date-like fruits in the summer. Zones 9-11Canary Palm Germination: 1) Fill a large pot with potting soil. Water this soil so that it is damp, but not wet.2) Use a heated propagator to keep the soil around 92 degrees F.3) Insert the seed into the soil so that it is just “lightly covering the seed” as the “need light to germinate”. If the pot is large enough, you can plant several seeds.4) Place the pot in the large plastic bag and seal it. Air out daily for 30 mins. & periodically inspect the seeds for any signs of mold or fungus. If found, simply wash the seed in a copper based fungicide, and rinse it off well before placing it back into “new & sterile” soil.5) Patience is needed as with any Palm or Tropical seeds. Expect germination to happen anywhere from 2-5 months. If a few sprout earlier than others, don’t throw the rest out as they are still good. They just need a bit more time and are Definitely Worth the Wait!
