Pulsatilla, also called Windflower or Prairie crocus, is hardy to zone 4-9. A herbaceous perennial that flowers white or purple early in the spring then developes feathery pumes/seedheads. It grows 8 to 10 inches tall. Full sun to partial shade in good draining soil. Slower growing plant. Refrigerate seed for 3 months before planting or simply put outdoors in the fall for spring emergence. If planting indoors- after the cold cycle- press on top of moist soil and keep moist and they will sprout anywhere from 30 to 90 days. A slow grower, but long lived once established.
