Asclepias arenaria is a species of milkweed shrub in the Asclepiadaceae Family coming from the Genus Asclepias. Common names include Sand Milkweed or Western Sand Milkweed. These herbaceous perennials Native ranges are Wyoming and South Dakota down to Texas. Growing two to four feet tall with clusters of flowers cream white to light yellow bloom June through August. The leaves are pale green and are very broad. It will attract Bees, Butterflies, and is Deer and Rabbit resistant. Asclepias arenaria requires sandy soils and full sun. Hardiness Zones are three to nine. Germination Seeds will require a warm and cold stratification to breaking dormancy.
