20 “Caribbean Red” Carica Papaya Fruit Tree Seeds “LARGE MELONS” Indoor Plant
20 Mexican Papaya Fruit Tree Seeds (Papaya Carica)Caribbean Red Paw Paw This Handsome Short Tree Develops it’s Fruits Primarily on the Trunk of the Tree. It’s Large Fruits are Frequently called “A Meal in Itself”. Papaya’s Large, fleshy, melon-like fruits grow to weigh up to 9 Pounds each & hang in clusters attached to the trunk top just under the leaf canopy. Papaya typically grows to 12′ tall (container plants to 10′ tall) and is most noted for its edible melon-like fruit. The papaya fruit is slightly sweet, with an agreeable musky tang, which is more pronounced in some varieties and in some climates than in others. It is a popular breakfast fruit in many countries and is also used in salads, pies, sherbets, juices, and confections. The unripe fruit can be cooked like squash. The possible health benefits of consuming papaya include a reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, aiding in digestion, improving blood glucose control in people with diabetes, lowering blood pressure, and improving wound healing. This plant is intolerant of frost. It is best grown in tropical or semi-tropical climates in rich humus, consistently moist but well-drained organic loams in full sun. Best fruit develops in full sun. Plants tolerate light shade if grown ornamentally indoors instead of for fruit.Papayas offer not only the luscious taste and sunlit color of the tropics, but are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; and the minerals, potassium, copper, and magnesium; and fiber. Together, these nutrients promote the health of the cardiovascular system and also provide protection against colon cancer. In addition, papaya contains the digestive enzyme, papain which is used like bromelain, a similar enzyme found in pineapple, to treat sports injuries, other causes of trauma, and allergies. This papaya hybrid will produce fruits that can up to 9lbs each.Zones 9-12 In areas with cooler winters, simply bring them indoors as they are Great Houseplants when given enough light.Papaya Germination:1) Mix about 3 1/2 ounces of calcium nitrate in 1 quart of water. Calcium nitrate is available in most garden centers as a fertilizer. This solution helps to decrease germination time, while increasing the total percentage of seeds that successfully germinate. Soak the papaya seeds in the calcium nitrate solution for about 30 minutes. 2) Soak the seeds in hot water at 158 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 seconds; then soak them in distilled water at room temperature for 24 hours to increase the germination rate. 3) Use a well mixed and well draining seed starting soil. Do not start seeds in seedling trays because papayas transplant poorly; 1-gallon containers ensure the plant requires transplanting only once from the container to the ground.4) To ensure successful germination for Papaya seeds, use a heated propagator mat to keep the soil between 80-85 degrees F., and place the containers in a sunny location, or use a grow light. 5) Evenly space two to four seeds in each container and cover the seeds with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of potting mix.6) Keep the soil moist without overwatering. 7) Papaya seeds can germinate in about 2 to 5 weeks with the calcium nitrate treatment. Following these instructions will increase germination rate and speed.”Please Contact us First if you need Anything”Please Check out our Other Items!Buy with Confidence as Customer Service is our #1 Priority and are available 7 days a week. 3000 Culantro Seeds NGO GAI Sawtoothfitweed, spiritweed, Stinkweed, Coriander
AKA Vietnamese coriander, chadon beni (shado beni), Sawtooth herb, shadow beni, Mexican coriander, and long coriander. It is widely used as a seasoning in Thailand, India, Vietnam, and other parts of Asia. The thick Ngo Gai leaves are perfect for drying at home as they retain their color and flavor very well Culantro is a member Apiaceae family, which includes carrots, celery, parsley, and parsnip. Culantro is used as both a culinary and medicinal herb Culantro is easy to grow but needs attention and patience to be successful with. The three critical conditions are warm soil – 80-85°F, seeds on the surface of the soil – never covered, and a consistently moist soil. If you meet all three conditions, your seeds should start sprouting in 2-4 weeks. STARTING: Start seeds indoor 8 weeks before the last frost date. Do not cover seeds with soil. Sprinkle seeds on surface of pre-moistened, sterilized seed starting mix. Bottom heat and plastic cover speed up germination. Check soil moisture regularly and water when the top inch becomes dry. GROWING: Plant outdoor in Partial Shade area – leaves will grow larger and more tender. Rich, Moist, well-drained soil (PH 6 -7.5) in warm location is best Optimal Temp.: 26 °C | Germination: 2-4 weeks | Plant Spacing : 8-12 in | Seed life: 2 years CULANTRO VS CILANTRO Culantro is a botanical cousin of cilantro, but they look nothing alike. Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum) is sometimes called Chinese parsley or Mexican parsley, and its seeds (coriander) are sometimes called Mexican coriander. While culantro has long leaves that grow in rosettes, cilantro has thin scallop-shaped leaves that grow on the tips of long, very thin stems. Additionally, cilantro is an annual plant, not a biennial like culantro. Though the flavor and aroma of the two herbs are comparable, you’ll notice that culantro is significantly more pungent than cilantro. Some people say it’s even 10 times stronger, which is apparent in how the two are used in food recipes. While culantro can handle the high heat of cooking, cilantro is a very delicate herb, which is why it’s often applied to food after cooking. WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE? Culantro has a pungent odor and bitter, soapy flavor similar to cilantro, but stronger. Many references say the odor is like crushed stinkbugs (skunky or burnt rubber) or crushed bedbugs (sweet, musty, and cilantro-like). With a description like that, it is apparent that this is a flavor that some love and some hate. A pungent element that would be distasteful on its own can add an extra dimension to the flavor of dishes. COOKING WITH CULANTRO The leaves are the desired part of the culantro plant for cooking. Culantro makes an excellent addition to a variety of recipes. You can cook it into almost any dish that you would otherwise finish with cilantro, though using less culantro than cilantro is recommended when substituting. It’s interesting to note that in some recipes for Vietnamese beef noodle soup (pho), the roles of cilantro and culantro are reversed, with cilantro cooked while culantro (ngo gai in Vietnamese) is reserved for the garnish.
