It has performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. INCLUDES BASIC GROWING INSTRUCTIONS At Frontier Farms, we specialize in many varieties of Heirloom tomatoes, peppers, plus many other vegetable varieties. WHAT IS AN HEIRLOOM? Heirloom plants are grown from seeds that have been handed down thru generations, saved from year to year, some varieties dating back hundreds of years. Many made the migration from Europe and the East with the immigrants coming to the USA. The seeds are never cross pollinated and so they remain true to their particular characteristics. Heirloom tomatoes come in all colors, shapes, and sizes ? Reds, Pinks, Yellows, Orange, White, Green, Striped, and Black. Ranging in sizes of cherry and grape to large grapefruit size, meaty, or juicy. WHY HEIRLOOM? These tomatoes are more natural, they are non GMO (genetically modified). They do not have as long of a shelf life as store bought tomatoes, but that is what makes them special. They have a real fantastic tomato flavor not found in grocery store offerings. These tomatoes are indeterminate (they grow all season, they flower all season and they produce tomatoes all season. They don?t stop until frost. Once heirloom tomatoes are picked, they do not have a long shelf life as hybrids but they more than make up for any shortcomings in flavor. Please see my other listings and my store for more great varieties and thank you!

July 8, 2026

Fresh Seeds inside US, Fast shippingCommon Name: European mountain ash Native Range: Western Asia, Europe Zone: 3 to 6Best grown in moist, acidic, well-drained soils in full sun. As the common name suggests, this is a tree of cool mountain climates that dislikes hot and humid summers, and will not grow well south of USDA Zones 5-6. It does poorly in the St. Louis area.Sorbus aucuparia, commonly called European mountain ash, is native to Europe and Asia. It has been widely planted in northern North America as an ornamental and has naturalized in some parts of Canada and the northern U.S. It is primarily cultivated for its compound green leaves and attractive clusters of fall fruit. It is a small, deciduous tree that grows to 20-40’ tall with a narrow, upright-oval crown, usually rounding and opening with age. Compound, odd-pinnate, flat medium green leaves have 9-15 serrate, oblong-lanceolate leaflets (each leaflet to 2.5” long). Leaves turn yellow to reddish-purple in fall. Small, white, 5-petaled flowers (1/3” across) bloom in flattened corymbs in May. Flowers give way to pendant clusters of orange-red berry-like drupes in late summer. Cultivars are available in commerce featuring pink, yellow and bright red fruits. Mountain ashes have ash-like leaves, but are members of the rose family, and are not related to true ashes (Fraxinus), which are in the olive family.Genus name comes from the Latin name sorbum for the fruit of the service tree (Sorbus domestica).Growing Info: Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours. Papaya’s Large, Fleshy, Melon-like Fruits Weighing up to 9 Pounds Each hang in clusters attached to the trunk top just under the leaf canopy. Papaya typically grows to 12′ tall (container plants to 10′ tall) and is most noted for its edible melon-like fruit. It is a popular breakfast fruit in many countries and is also used in salads, pies, sherbets, juices, and confections. The unripe fruit can be cooked like squash. The possible health benefits of consuming papaya include a reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, aiding in digestion, improving blood glucose control in people with diabetes, lowering blood pressure, and improving wound healing. This plant is intolerant of frost. It is best grown in tropical or semi-tropical climates in rich humus, consistently moist but well-drained organic loams in full sun. Best fruit develops in full sun. Plants tolerate light shade if grown ornamentally indoors instead of for fruit.Papayas offer not only the luscious taste and sunlit color of the tropics, but are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; and the minerals, potassium, copper, and magnesium; and fiber. Together, these nutrients promote the health of the cardiovascular system and also provide protection against colon cancer. In addition, papaya contains the digestive enzyme, papain which is used like bromelain, a similar enzyme found in pineapple, to treat sports injuries, other causes of trauma, and allergies. This papaya hybrid will produce fruits that can weigh up to 9 Pounds each.Zones 9-12 In areas with cooler winters, simply bring them indoors as they are Great Houseplants when given enough light.Papaya Germination:1) Mix about 3 1/2 ounces of calcium nitrate in 1 quart of water. Calcium nitrate is available in most garden centers as a fertilizer. This solution helps to decrease germination time, while increasing the total percentage of seeds that successfully germinate. Soak the papaya seeds in the calcium nitrate solution for about 30 minutes. 2) Soak the seeds in hot water at 158 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 seconds; then soak them in distilled water at room temperature for 24 hours to increase the germination rate. 3) Use a well mixed and well draining seed starting soil. Do not start seeds in seedling trays because papayas transplant poorly; 1-gallon containers ensure the plant requires transplanting only once from the container to the ground.4) To ensure successful germination for Papaya seeds, use a heated propagator mat to keep the soil between 80-85 degrees F., and place the containers in a sunny location, or use a grow light. 5) Evenly space two to four seeds in each container and cover the seeds with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of potting mix.6) Keep the soil moist without overwatering. 7) Papaya seeds can germinate in about 2 to 5 weeks with the calcium nitrate treatment.
